Project Engineer Internship 2021

Who Are We?

Since 1996 Rummel Construction has been building the Southwest US as one of the premier Heavy Civil General Contractors in Arizona. We specialize in mass excavation, big dirt, you might say, but we do it all. We build award-winning golf courses; move millions of cubic yards in residential developments; build innovative road protection solutions and help build the foundation of clean energy projects through our work on wind and solar sites. We've got a fleet of more than 300 pieces of heavy equipment and the work to support it.

Who Are You?

You're a current student enrolled in a Construction Management, Construction Engineering or Civil Engineering program that wants to put their studies to practice in the real world. You're passionate and excited about horizontal construction and want to be a part of a hard working team.

What will you be doing?

As a Project Engineer Intern, you will be given immediate challenges, as you work directly in the field with our crews and supervision. You will receive mentoring from key members of the management team. You will learn grade-checking, which will give you the understanding of our cut-and-fill projects, equipment, and departments.

Depending on how along you are in your college courses, you will shadow a Project Engineer/Project Manager, and assist with daily duties, such as quantity tracking, scheduling, and reviewing submittals, purchase orders, and RFI's. It is also possible for you to receive cross-functional assignments available in maintenance, estimating, GPS, and our water distribution departments, contingent on the interest of the individual and business needs.

What Else?

We work in Arizona, and this is a Summer Internship. So, it's going to be warm. You should be able to work in all weather conditions, be able to walk and navigate through rough terrain and be comfortable leading safety meetings, etc.

  • Pursuing college degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field
  • Reliable transportation is required for this internship. Traveling to different projects is expected.
  • Do you have excellent communication skills? Are you willing to get your hands dirty and take initiative? If so, you may be perfect for this summer internship position!
