Construction Laborer

What makes Rummel Construction, Inc. different?

Since 1996 Rummel Construction has been building the Southwest US as one of the premier Heavy Civil Contractors in Arizona. We specialize in mass excavation, big dirt, you might say, but we do it all. We build award-winning golf courses; move millions of cubic yards in residential developments; build innovative road protection structures; create flood control structures and build the foundation of clean energy through our work on wind and solar sites.

What are you going to be doing?

Construction Laborers at Rummel Construction are more than just workers on the ground. If you don't have any construction experience and you're looking to break into the industry, the laborer position is a great place to start. As a laborer you'll learn how to work safely as a part of a team and under experienced supervision. Using hand tools and small equipment, Laborers are vital to all phases of earthwork. From setting up HDPE pipe used to prepare the site for moving dirt to placing rip rap in gabion baskets, our laborers are expected to jump in wherever they can to help get the job done.

You can expect to:

  • Work outside in all seasons
  • Stand, walk and carry tools and materials from 10-50 lbs
  • Clearly communicate with teammates, operators and supervisors
  • Provide Work Zone traffic control as a flagger (don't worry we'll train you)
  • Use shovels, brooms, hand tools to assist earthwork operations
  • Haul, carry and set up HDPE pipe for pre-wet operations

This is a safety-sensitive position that requires the following:

  • The ability to move and lift materials and tools ranging from 10-50 lbs
  • The ability to communicate with co-workers using hand signals and two-way radios
  • The ability to safely walk on 2:1 slopes and unfinished, rough terrain throughout the job site
  • The ability to safely and properly use hand tools and equipment according to Company Policies and Procedures
  • The ability to work in a wide range of weather conditions - hot, cold, wet, humid
  • The ability to perform safe and efficient labor according to the Company Policies and Procedures

Minimum Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years old and have reliable transportation to get to job sites. Our work takes us all over the Southwest US and you must also be willing to travel to project locations.

Preferred Qualifications: Previous construction experience is a plus, but not required. If you have a willingness to learn, the desire to contribute to a quality product and the mindset to succeed, we'd love to meet you.

What else to expect:

Our projects typically run Monday-Friday, during daylight hours. What that means is when the sun starts coming up earlier in the day (think summer), we start working earlier. In the summer you can expect to start work at 5:30 AM. Better to beat the heat than sleep in. Overtime is allowed, but not guaranteed. Lastly, and we can't stress this enough - reliable transportation is a must!

What do we offer?

  • An excellent team-based work environment
  • Competitive pay
  • Subsidized health insurance
  • A 401K plan
  • Voluntary Dental and Supplemental benefits
  • A place to grow your career and the experience to achieve your goals

We offer an excellent work environment including a competitive salary, subsidized health insurance, 401k plan, and voluntary dental and supplemental benefits.
